Sir Patrick Stewart – Make It So!
by Brian Alterman on Jun.02, 2010, under News
The captain of the Starship Enterprise is now to be known as Sir John-Luc Picard. Patrick Stewart, best known for such roles as Professor X in the X-Men movies and Captain Picard in Star Trek the Next Generation also happens to be an accomplished Shakespearean actor. I saw him on Broadway a number of years ago in The Tempest, and he was brilliant. He recently starred as Claudius alongside fellow sci-fi alum David Tennant in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Hamlet. After having the honour bestowed upon him by the queen, he was quoted as saying “The pleasure is all yours, your majesty”. OK, he is way to classy for a move like that, but he would be correct.
It’s your world, Mr. Stewart…we only live in it.
