Snark, Critic and Pop!

A Paris woman became trapped in her bathroom when the door lock jammed, and was stuck in there for 20 days.  She had no cell phone, life alert bracelet, window or other means of getting herself out, so she tapped on the pipes hoping someone would hear her.  People did hear her.  In fact the tapping was quite annoying so they decided to gather signatures on a petition to make her stop.

“You could hear banging sounds, like a hammer, even at night,” one neighbour told local media. “But we thought they were doing work at night. We said: ‘They are going too far! They are preventing us from sleeping!’ If we had known….’”

The woman was finally found after police broke down her door when some people noticed they hadn’t seen her in a while.  She had survived the 3 weeks by drinking warm tap water which she hated but said “was still better then that crap wine they make in the United States”.  She later lamented that she did not live in New York,

“While the people are rude, the city filthy and the food sub par, I am quite certain that after one night of tapping some brute would have kicked in my door and beaten me senseless for disturbing him while he was watching The Jersey Shore.  Yes it would have hurt, but I would have been free, and what is life but pain…”
