What Scares Birds? Hopefully Not Wasted Tax Dollars
by Daniel Roos on Jun.20, 2012, under News
Birds. Not always the word is “birds.” Alfred Hitchcock knows birds scare us, but did Alf know the inverse — what scares birds (other than straw stuffed with old overalls hung on a pole in a field)? If he did, he could save San Francisco a lot of time, money, and trouble.

“It’s not that we’re trying to head-shrink the birds,” said Mike Lynes of the Golden Gate Audubon Society. “But when they take off because they are frightened, they expend energy, and that can affect their health.”

There is a upcoming documentary titled “Fight Church,” which features young, Christians who dig mixed martial arts and use it as an opportunity to reach the masses. A quote from the trailer: “The hope is that through the fight I can create a relationship with the person I’m fighting and extend Christ to him.” And another: “Can you love your neighbor as yourself and at the same time knee him in the face as hard as you can?”
Far be it from me to judge, but I think I’ll stick with my Church League Softball, thanks, guys. (continue reading…)
