Yes, friends, it’s the birthday of one of Snark Critic Pop’s nearest and dearest friends. I know I speak for Brian when I say that whenever we post something, we hope it brings a small modicum of joy to this particular, verrrrrrrrry special person. Wrestling-Mania-Free: Mike Quackenbush vs. Claudio Castagnoli

by Daniel Roos on Apr.01, 2012, under Only on the Internet, Sports

Some Independant (read: not WWE) pro wrestling, featuring “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush vs. “Very European” Claudio Castagnoli. Scripted exhibition? Duhhhhhh. But this is two minutes of a 15 minute match done live in front of a few hundred people with some unreal stunts: (continue reading…)

MUSIC FOR WRESTLEMANIA WEEK: Undertaker “Man In Black”

by Daniel Roos on Mar.26, 2012, under Music, Only on the Internet, Sports

You can’t argue with the sweet, melodic voice of WWE wrestler the Undertaker. Sure, there may be some instances where it’s warranted (to catch a predator, a congressman who refuses to answer his constituents) but in general it sucks. So, while I don’t like seeing people get hurt, this is pretty doggone funny:

David Mamet’s “Race” – 30 square feet and it took an hour and a half!

by Daniel Roos on Mar.10, 2012, under Only on the Internet

This past Thursday, I did something bizarre – I saw a “play.”  For those unfamiliar, plays are like movies that take place not on a giant screen.  Still with me?  The play is Race, by Pulitzer prize winning playwright David Mamet, put on in CAST (Carolina Actors Studio Theatre) Charlotte, North Carolina.  You know it’s art, because they spell “theater” as “theatre“!

But what to say about the play?  This being a Mamet play, you know there are lots of pithy dialogue and plenty of swear words.  For those unaware, David Mamet is the terrific writer  behind Glengarry Glen Ross and some great movies like the Untouchables, Ronin, Spartan, Redbelt, and the Edge.
