TRAILER: American Warships (2012)
by Daniel Roos on May.15, 2012, under Movies, Television
It’s a double-whammy — a SyFy Saturday night movie, from our pals at the Asylum! It’s American Warships, premeiring around the same time as that other movie Battleship hits theaters. What a coincidink!

Memphis Grizzlies Sympathizer Jerry Lawler Destroys L.A. Clippers Fan
by Daniel Roos on May.03, 2012, under Sports, Television
Cynics might say it’s rigged, but I say it’s real. Jerry “the King” Lawler has single-handedly saved the Grizzlies season with this impromptu moment! (continue reading…)
Tornadoes Aren’t From Kansas Any More, Toto
by Daniel Roos on Apr.18, 2012, under Movies, Television
Methinks many movie concepts these days are taken by taking known concepts, creatures, characters, and genres, putting them in a bowl, pulling out two, and voila! There’s your movie idea. Piranhas and . . . Anacondas. Okay, let’s make Piranhaconda! Abraham Lincoln and . . . Zombies! Along those lines: This Saturday, the SyFy Channel original movie is Alien Tornado. Baton down the hatches, bad movie lovers!
Watch the trailer, if you dare! (continue reading…)

Adam Baldwin On Castle!
by Daniel Roos on Apr.03, 2012, under Television
Yes! Yes! Yes! It’s a Firefly reunion as Adam Baldwin (a.k.a. The Man They Call Jayne) guest stars on ABC’s Castle re-teaming with Nathan Fillion. I’m a casual, sometimes viewer of Castle — Stana Katic is hot, Nathan Fillion is funny, and there’s not a lot else on TV — but this Monday’s show has just become geek must see TV! (continue reading…)
So It’s Come To This: Steven Seagal in A Cable Drama
by Daniel Roos on Mar.29, 2012, under Television
SnarkCriticPop’s favorite teen sensation Steven Seagal is coming to not just TV but cable TV in a “gritty” new series on the Reelz Channel. After a brief investigation by our research department, I’ve been told that my cable service carries the Reelz Channel, and it’s in my package! Who knew? Certainly not me.
Inside sources tell us they are called the “Reelz Channel” because no one has heard of it and their marketing department is trying to get the word out that it’s a “real channel.” Since mispelling things is considered kewl, they spelted it “reelz.” Ya dig? Anyhoo, check out the promo for Steven Seagal’s True Justice, premeiring tomorrow night, March 30th, on Reelz Channel. (continue reading…)
Rifftrax Live Returns With Manos: The Hands of Fate!
by Daniel Roos on Mar.27, 2012, under Cinematic Masochist, Movies, Television
It’s a great day to be an American . . . especially if you’re a fan of Rifftrax and/or Mystery Science Theater 3000. Today Rifftrax announced the date of their next live event to be simulcast in theaters:
August 16th, when Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy will revisit “Manos” The Hands of Fate live in theaters nationwide! Torgo is back, and he’s lamer than ever!
For those who don’t know, Manos: The Hands of Fate is inarguably the worst film ever made. It’s virtually unwatchable and incomprehensible without the riffing. Try to watch it sans commentary, I dare you. But, if you’re feeling quasi-daring, just check out this “Best of the MST3K Manos episode” youtube montage: (continue reading…)

Nothing on TV? Try Person of Interest
by Daniel Roos on Mar.15, 2012, under Television
I don’t post so much about TV lately, because there’s so precious little on TV that holds my attention beyond sports, news, and history stuff. The one show I always make time for is Person of Interest on CBS, which I’m pleased to hear was picked up for a much deserved second season. Airing Thursdays at 9 Eastern, the first season is drawing to a close, but it’s a rather easy to get onboard show, methinks. Here’s a promo for the premeire: (continue reading…)
