Tonight’s the Night!
by Daniel Roos on Jul.19, 2012, under Movies
Going to the midnight showing of the Dark Knight Rises tonight. My summer long mission of not watching any of the tv spots or trailers (after allowing myself one viewing of the first full trailer) or reading anything about the films.
As much as I dig trailers, I’ve decided that when I know I want to watch a movie, why spoil the treat? And Christopher Nolan doing the finale to a truly epic Batman trilogy with Anne Hathaway as Catwoman & Tom Hardy as Bane? I can’t wait!
Tonight on ABC Family: BUFFY THE SPACE CATWOMAN!
by Daniel Roos on Jun.14, 2011, under Television
Okay, so the “official” name of the show is “The 9 Lives of Chloe King,” but I dare you to watch the trailer (posted below) and not reach the same conclusion.
ABC Family has created a bold new concept of a girl coming of age, learning she has special powers, and a destiny to fight some manner of ominous evil. I’ve never seen more than a few minutes of Joss Whedon’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV show, and I feel ripped off on Joss’ behalf. (I tried and failed to watch Buffy after I fell in love with Joss’ next show, Firefly. Apparently I forgot that I was not a teenage girl.)
Instead of a vampire slayer, our heroine Chloe King (the cute Skyler Samuels, co-star of Brendon Fraser’s worst decision ever, Furry Vengeance) is apparently some manner of crime fighting, space catwoman who really could use a manicure. Cats? From space? Really? (continue reading…)
The Dark Knight Rises: Anne Hathaway as Catwoman
by Daniel Roos on May.23, 2011, under Movies
All Right, Brian, I’ll See Your Bane Picture . . . and raise you Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.
I know Adam West feels that the only real Catwoman is Julie Newmar, Lee Merriweather, or Eartha Kitt, but I think even Mayor West may cut Anne some slack.
If my posts are sporadic at best over the next year, it’s because I am in line waiting to buy tickets to The Dark Knight Rises. Stupid 2011 Summer movies! Be more Batman-y!!
Batman 3 Has A Name
by Daniel Roos on Oct.27, 2010, under Movies, News
The third Christopher Nolan Bat-film has been named, and it is “The Dark Knight Rises.” Not bad, says I. With The Dark Knight Rises and J.J. Abrams Star Trek both coming in 2012, that year can’t come soon enough for me. 2011 with its “big” Thor movie and whatnot . . . don’t even bother showing up.
Director Christopher Nolan has said the villain will not be the Riddler, nixing one of the popular fantasy casting scenarios that has swept the net for the past two years. Actors from Eddie Murphy to Joseph Gordon-Levitt had been mentioned in unsubstantiated gossip for the part that will not be (I was on Team Guy Pearce For The Riddler personally).
I am still alive in the office pool with my pick of Jack Black for King Tut as the villain.
Of course, Catwoman has not been ruled out, and I believe Julie Newmar is still available . . . hint! hint!
