Tyler Durden: The Very Model Of A Modern Day Evangelist

by on Jun.19, 2012, under Movies, Sports

Move over Billy Graham, is Tyler Durden the new model for Christian evangelism? As a Christian, may I say in all sincerity: “Dear Lord, I hope not.”

There is a upcoming documentary titled “Fight Church,” which features young, Christians who dig mixed martial arts and use it as an opportunity to reach the masses. A quote from the trailer: “The hope is that through the fight I can create a relationship with the person I’m fighting and extend Christ to him.” And another: “Can you love your neighbor as yourself and at the same time knee him in the face as hard as you can?”

Far be it from me to judge, but I think I’ll stick with my Church League Softball, thanks, guys. (continue reading…)

MASCOT FIGHT: Bear vs. Tree

by on Nov.13, 2011, under Sports

It’s bear vs. tree, as represented by the Cal Bear (yea!) vs. the Stanford Tree (booooo!). When Mascots attack, the greatest unproduced Fox show show since the Simpsons spin-off “Chief Wiggum, P. Ryan Gosling Breaks Up Fight in New York City

by on Aug.23, 2011, under News

It is being reported that Academy Award nominated actor Ryan Gosling broke up a fight in a busy New York City intersection.  Participants in the fight got so confused over where exactly they knew Gosling from that they forgot their reason for brawling in the first place.  Snark Critic Pop has obtained a transcript:

Gosling: “Stop fighting, friends!”
Fighter # 1: “Hey, ain’t you that there movie star fella??”
Gosling: “Why, yes . . .”
Fighter # 2: “Yeah!  Ain’t you the guy from Green Lantern?”
Gosling: “No, that’s Ryan Reynolds.”
Fighter # 1: “Naw, he’s that guy from Lincoln Lawyer.”
Gosling: “No, I think you’re thinking of either Matthew McConaughey or possible Ryan Phillipe.”
Fighter # 2: “Captain America?”
Gosling: “No, that’s Chris Evans.”

Several hours later, Gosling told them he was that dude from the Notebook and Fracture.  All parties went away disappointed.  But Kudos to Ryan Gosling for using his minor celebrity to stop a fight!  Think of the good that Casper Van Dien could do as a vaguely familiar crime fighter!
