Nicolas Cage Alert! REVIEW: Seeking Justice (2012)
by Daniel Roos on Sep.20, 2012, under Movies
I don’t believe what I just saw – a good Nicolas Cage movie! It’s been a while, I almost didn’t recognize it.
I’m not a Cage fan or a Cage hater like some folks who will remain nameless *cough* Brian Alterman *cough*. I’m relatively indifferent to Nicolas Cage – he neither makes nor breaks movies for me. I don’t run away from a film because he’s in it, but just the same I don’t run out to see one because he’s there either. Still seeing a movie at the Redbox (where it’s been mighty slim picking lately) with Cage prominently featured doesn’t get me alone when I haven’t seen any trailers, promotion, etc.
On the other hand, I am a Guy Pearce fan (Memento being my all-time favorite film). It was the fondness of Guy Pearce that drew me to Seeking Justice. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. (continue reading…)
Daniel Roos’ Rhyming Reviews: Lockout (2012)
by Daniel Roos on Apr.16, 2012, under Movies
I saw the new sci-fi action flick Lockout.
It was a solid hit, albeit not quite a knock-out.
It’s the near future inmates take control of a prison in space
During a visit from the President’s cuter daughter played, by Maggie Grace.
The situation looks grim, the opposition looks fierce,
Time to call on him — that’s right, Guy Pearce?!
Pearce plays a covert operative turned convict,
Jailed for a crime he did not commit.
He’s a wise-crackin’, Snake Plissken anti-hero
Perfect for battlin’ baddies in gravity zero.
Now his ticket to redemption
Is a save-the-damsel suicide mission. (continue reading…)
TRAILER: Lock-Out (2012)
by Daniel Roos on Jan.26, 2012, under Movies
The good news: One of my favorite actors, Guy Pearce, is back to headlining a big budget, big screen movie! The bad news: It’s in a cliche riddled sci-fi picture that looks to be a combination of Escape From New York, Fortress, and Taken (it even stars Maggie Grace as the damsel in distress!). The premise: In the future, the President’s daughter (Grace) is trapped on a space prison where the inmates have taken control. Enter a escape artist (Pearce) sent to bring her back alive. I ain’t gonna lie: I’m gonna see it. (continue reading…)
