Snark, Critic and Pop!

Yes, it’s here.  Out on DVD on Tuesday from the greatest movie studio ever, The Asylum, the film that is so awesome it can only be described in capital letters: MEGA SHARK VS. CROCOSAURUS.

This is the sequel to the cult hit Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, that not only inspired our crew’s very first iRiff (downloadable audio commentary) but the title to my book on the great, terrible movies that I love: Mega Roos vs. Giant Crappy Movies.  One great side effect is I already have a title for my sequel, should there ever be one: Mega Roos vs. Craposaurus.  I don’t envy the task of the artist who has to create “Craposaurus” . . .  But I digress!

MEGA SHARK VS. CROCOSAURUSstars Jaleel White, alias the guy who played Urkel, as the Navy’s finest shark Otolaryngologist, Terry.  Terry believes that Mega Shark didn’t die at the end of the last movie, which many of us have hoped at various candle-light vigils held outside Asylum Studios.  Terry is quickly proved correctly when Mega Shark — a prehistoric shark the size of the Titanic II — appears off the ship he’s on, drawn by Urkel’s shark attracting technology.  So annoyed by the very concept of an Urkel Robot episode of Family Matters that Mega Shark sneaks on board the ship and kills Terry’s girlfriend in the hallway with a shiv and throws some rope on her before sinking the entire ship. Great little feature on our favorite movie studio ever, The Asylum, from Last Call With Carson Daly.  Don’t worry, there is absolutely no footage of Carson Daly in the clip, it’s safe.  BUT you do get a look at the forthcoming EPIC showdown between Tiffany and Debbie Gibson in MEGA SHARK VS. CROCOSAURUS complete with washed up 80s pop sensation CATFIGHT!  It’s good to know the guys at the Asylum are as cool, laid back, and aware of their status as I hoped they were. 

Edit: Sorry, I meant Mega Python vs. Gateroid which features Tiffany and Gibson, not Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus which will star Urkel . . .

Check ‘em out at the Asylum’s web-site here.  No monsters or monster fight pics yet, but plenty with its star Jaleel White (alias “Urkel”) and the doctor from Star Trek: Voyager.  I know the movie isn’t out until December 21st, but I’ve decided to go ahead and officially declare Mega Shark Vs. Crocosaurus my favorite movie of all-time.

The Asylum announced today on their web-site that they will be producing a long-awaited sequel to mega hit Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, starring none other than Jaleel “Urkel” White!  It’s called MEGA SHARK VS. CROCOSAURUS, and it’s going to be released on DVD December 21st (the day before my birthday — I know what I want!).

People have long debated when exactly the popular sitcom Family Matters (featuring White as nerd Urkel) jumped the shark.  Was it the first episode, the second, the opening credits, etc.  But now we may literally see Urkel jump not just a shark, but a MEGA SHARK.  All this on the day Titanic 2 is released on DVD.  Is it a great day to be an American or what?
