So I Saw (Most of) The First Episode of “the Cape” . . .

The Cape being NBC’s “big”, new, superhero TV show. It looked rather dreadful, like a low-rent Darkman/Batman knock-off. It turns out The Cape is rather dreadful, a low-rent Darkman/Batman knock-off. It felt like a truncated, uninteresting, medium budget, comic book, superhero movie.
It’s not funny, it’s not original, it’s not mysterious, it’s just . . . goofy. There is one noteworthy thing that should pique the interest of my midget-obsessed colleague Brian Alterman: The superhero’s training montage – where he goes from disgraced cop to disgraceful, caped superhero — features a sequence where the hero must defeat a midget in hand to hand combat. I’m not kidding.
If I had to say something nice about the show, I’d say that it’s good that it’s giving Summer Glau some work before its inevitable cancellation. (continue reading…)

kee-dokee, Snark-a-Maniacs, it’s finally here, the overdue conclusion to my epic, 4 part Top 20 Favorite Films of All Time Countdown. (That’s 1 more part than Tolkein needed for the Lord of the Rings, thus I believe this list the superior product.)
